Allenwood v Sallins

2-15 - 3-13 Lost

Location: Allenwood

Sat, Apr 06 @ 6:00 PM

Referee: Peter Farrell

It was a gallant effort by the men in Blue, but a last minute score from the Sallins centre back, sealed the narrowest of victories for the visiting team for them to retain their 100% winning streak. Allenwood found it tough to come to terms with some of the key Sallins forwards, and this was further hindered by an early injury to Killian Darling who is one of our young up and coming backs…we wish him a very speedy recovery. Billy Maher showed some great never say never spirt and was rewarded with a goal from applying a serious amount of pressure to the Sallins keeper. There were some great long range scores from both teams and the likes of Conor Herbert from Sallins and Johnny Doyle and Daz Judge showed great composure with their long range efforts.

I think Allenwood will go away from this thinking it was one they should have won….and I’d tend to agree with that. On a positive note, as with last week, it was good to see the younger lads coming into their own, being well supported by the likes of Tom Byrne and Johnny Doyle (some of the stalwart’s of the game).
