Allenwood v Milltown

2-15 - 0-5 Won

Location: Allenwood

Referee: Anthony Herbert

On a wet evening in Sean Tierney Park, the two teams from Allen Parish took to the field. Milltown took the lead getting the first score of the game in the first few minutes, but unfortunately this was the last time Milltown would lead for the match. Johnny Byrne got the Blues off to a start with a fine point with the left peg from around the 45 (mind you he’ll probably claim that he kicked it from the half way line). Some great scores from a range of players, as well as an opportunistic goal from Johnny Doyle lobbing the Milltown keeper from the corner gave Allenwood the lead at half-time despite some great saves from Milltowns goalkeeper standing in for the recent married Paul Mulhall (congrats Paul).
Allenwood went on to further their lead with scores around the field. Milltown’s keeper took a woeful ball to the head from a shot by Johnny Byrne from point blank range, but still managed to save the goal with assistance from the crossbar….that’ll hurt in the morning. The final score (with thanks to Seamus Hogarty) ended up with the home team winning 2-15 to 0-5. It was great to see the younger lads coming into the squad such as Sean and Fionn Moran, Colm Moran and Jason Wyse and also great to see some of the other young lads like Jack Turbett and Daz coming into their own.
