CLUB ALLENWOOD will be launched on Friday, May 17th at 7pm in our clubhouse as part of the official opening of our new all-weather astro turf playing pitch. All our members and supporters are encouraged to attend on the night to hear our plans for the future and learn how you can play your part in making our ambitions a reality. Refreshments will be served on the night.

CLUB ALLENWOOD is being launched with the sole purpose of helping to drive forward GAA in our village. Allenwood GFC was founded in 1956 and there have been many great days in the intervening period. We can be very proud of the club we have built and the facilities that we have put in place for our members. These facilities, however, need to be continually upgraded as well as maintained on an ongoing basis. We want to ensure that our current generation of players have the best facilities available to them to assist them in getting back to the senior ranks in the next few years and then compete at that level again in the years to come just as we have done in the past. We also want to ensure that we have sufficient facilities and playing space available to allow our ladies teams to thrive at all levels. Ladies football is growing rapidly and we in Allenwood will continue to do our utmost to encourage and grow the game in our locality.

We do this simply because Allenwood GFC is important to us. It adds so much to life in our village and plays a key role in the development of our young people. It’s important because it’s about building pride and contentment in who we are and where we come from. It’s important because it holds true to vital values such as volunteerism, team, community and friendship. It’s important because it’s inclusive, innovative and progressive.

Allenwood GFC has always been like that. That’s the precious legacy that was handed to us by those who founded this club in 1956. And it’s the legacy that we in turn want to hand on to those who come after us.
We are appealing to our members/supporters and friends of our club to sign up to CLUB ALLENWOOD. This can be paid in 2 ways:

1) Annual Payment of €300

2) Monthly Standing Order of €25 Per Month

All the money raised from this initiative will go directly towards servicing our loan repayments each month. As a member of CLUB ALLENWOOD you will receive the following:

A high-quality unique CLUB ALLENWOOD jacket
Free Entry to all home league games
A Club Allenwood Car Sticker
All those who pay the €300 up front before May 24th will receive a free ticket to the Kildare Supporters Club’s 4 Monthly Draws (Valued at €100)

Hopefully you will have seen the great work on our new All-Weather astro turf pitch, which is close to completion. This is the 1st Phase of a 4 Phase Development Plan, which is designed to improve and expand the facilities available to our club members. The final cost of the astro-turf project is €175k, but thanks to your generosity and great support to date (24 Hour Walk) alongside the Drehid Community Grant scheme we have already raised a total of €115k towards this cost. The addition of GAA goals and the erection of floodlights around the perimeter of this pitch, along with some groundwork and tarring, will see this project fully completed.

Over the next few weeks we intend to complete some other much-needed work on our facilities, such as the refit of our existing scoreboard with LED digits, the repair of the floodlighting on our main field and the associated replacement of bulbs, along with the replacement of the ballstopper nets on the main playing pitch.

We will then progress on to the other Phases of our Development Plan as per the below:

None of this is possible without your support, so please sign up to CLUB ALLENWOOD
